Hello __________,

Thank you for your interest in adopting from OHS!

ESA's do not require any formal training or temperament assessment. In order to legally have an emotional support animal, you must get a signed letter from a licensed mental health professional stating that you have a mental health condition and that your pet helps provide relief for that condition. If you already have an established relationship with a licensed mental health professional you can ask them if they provide ESA letters. Otherwise, you can ask your primary care doctor if there is someone they can refer you to.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and I hope you find the perfect dog!
