Hello __________,

Thank you for your interest in adopting from OHS!

It’s important to note that a shelter environment can be very stressful for some animals, which may affect their temperament. While we assess all our pets for behavior and personality, we cannot guarantee that they will be suitable as service animals.

Our shelters are open daily from 10am-6:30pm for meet and greets if you’d like to come in to see who we have available and see if you would be a good match! I recommend coming before 4pm if possible, as if we get backed up we cannot guarantee that a staff member will be available to do a meet and greet. You can see all of our adoptable dogs here, and you can filter by age, location, sex, and weight.

The Oregon Humane Society does not offer service dog training. Listed below are some organizations that offer training programs for service dogs. Please note that the Oregon Humane Society is not affiliated with any of these organizations and is not responsible for the services offered. This is not a complete list of organizations or trainers. We encourage you to reach out to organizations on your own and ask for details about training methods and practices. We recommend trainers that use force-free, positive reinforcement-based training.
