Adopter must call and schedule within 10 days of adoption

Exam is at no cost to adopter, but a $25 deposit is required to schedule

$25 deposit will be refunded if no treatment is required during appointment. Treatment will be charged.

30-minute appointment

Place in “Exam” or “Wellness” blocks

Can be placed in “FP” blocks with CVH approval

THIS TYPE OF APPOINTMENT SHOULD BE USED FOR ADOPTED SHELTER PETS:

  • Who have upcoming vaccine boosters due
  • Whose new owners want to establish care with a new veterinarian
  • That are on long-term medication and need to establish care for refills

Booster due dates vary between the OHS Shelter and Community Veterinary Hospital. Puppies and kittens receive boosters every two weeks when in the shelter environment. However, once in a home, CVH recommends boosters every 3 – 4 weeks. When scheduling puppies and kittens for wellness appointments, please make sure to schedule the appointment for 3 – 4 weeks after their last vaccine.

Vaccine administration dates are found on the pet’s SB medical history (below). Boosters after adoption should be 3-4 weeks after the last administration date. The due date listed is for shelter use only.
